Lani Debaets

Dressage isn't just about a series of movements, not even movements synonymous with the term Dressage such as Shoulder in, Travers, Half pass, or Tempi changes. It is about a partnership, a oneness with your horse, about communication and not just one way. It's about understanding, responding and building a relationship with your horse that results in ... all those movements ... shoulder in, half pass, tempi's. This is the philosophy that has guided Lani in her passion to experience and teach dressage. Lani's love has been ongoing ever since a child and has helped her reach her dream including 4th Level Horse of the Year Award, High Point Hanoverian in the Nation and numerous other awards with her Hanoverian mount, Wilfgang of Valhalla as well as being an "L" dressage judge. She has trained with several international and national trainers and realized that the style of teaching and riding she desires to pursue is one of lightness, responsiveness and classical in methods. Lani is adamant in believing this can be accomplished when the horse is soft in the hand, in self carriage and responsive to minimal aids. She is currently training under the guidance of Bruno Gonzalez and practicing methods developed centuries ago of classical riding that emphasizes this self carriage and engagement. Her passion continues to be learning and passing this information on so that others can also have a deeper feeling of connection and understanding with their horse.
